Humikal Agro Trade Ltd., the distributor of Humikal Universal Classic organic-mineral fertilizer granules, arrived at the perfect time with 40 polyethylene bags, each containing 25 kg of product. According to the Foundation, in the absence of nutrient supplements, the mortality rate of planted trees is rather high.

The rooted saplings, ranging from 50 to 100 cm in height, were transported in large water containers to the planting site. At each designated spot, 2.5 kg of granules were placed into the pit dug for the roots, and after positioning the sapling, an additional 1–1.5 kg was spread onto the surrounding soil. The ground was adequately moist from the previous day’s rainfall, so additional watering was unnecessary.

“The granules introduced into the soil simultaneously enrich the roots and the soil with a blend of micro- and macroelements. These reactivate nutrients that would otherwise be unavailable to the plant and enhance the plant’s ability to process them.”

This mechanism was shared on-site with Franciska Hervai, the Foundation’s managing director, and Balázs Bozzay, who had both been anticipating this type of professional support for urban tree planting. In our view, extreme climatic changes increasingly pose serious challenges for afforestation as well. The applied granules strengthen the root system and accelerate canopy growth. If, after six months, the saplings are treated with the liquid fertilizer from the Humikal Universal product line, their development will be further enhanced. The guaranteed success is also thanks to the fact that the Humikal Universal range consists of 95% biologically derived components.

Control Sample: Based on prior discussions, 300 saplings were arranged into three separate but homogeneous plots, serving as treated-control zones, to make the efficiency visibly comparable to untreated plots. The picturesque environment and sunny weather made the hard work progress effortlessly. We became so engrossed in the planting that we even missed the hearty soup served at noon—but the lively team quickly made up for it. We would like to express our gratitude to the 10 Million Trees Foundation for this wonderful day and hope to participate in many similar events in the future.

Barley and Wheat Cultivation Reference

Location: Beled, Hungary

Trial Area: On 7 hectares of mixed crops, the Humikal Universal liquid product was applied, with a control area of 5.22 hectares. The trial demonstrated clear positive results in both plant development and yield. Grain quality analysis showed significantly improved values, with the cereals appearing richer, fuller, and more vibrant.

Compared to the control area, the barley yield increased by 440 kg per hectare after a single application. In the wheat trial, a notable improvement was observed in protein levels. The mechanism unfolds with continuous use, as the rejuvenation of exhausted soil into productive land requires regular (semi-annual or annual) supplementation. This is achieved through the mineral fertilizer derived from aqueous extracts of Brown Coal / Leonardite / Lignite, which enables effective root-soil interactions.

The nutrient cycle is disrupted when excessive nitrogen application destroys the soil’s natural fertility, forcing compensation with artificial top-dressing, thereby undermining ecological balance.

Kenya Model Farm Program

The Kenya Model Farm Program was launched with the support of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture. Its objective is to demonstrate and implement Hungarian agricultural innovations—such as seeds, inputs, and soil improvement solutions—in Kenyan farming practices.

As part of the program, the Kenyan model farm managers participated in a professional study visit to Hungary, during which connections were established with the management of Humikal Agro Trade Ltd., as well as with experts from the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
